Northwest
Angle Ice Fishing Photos by D. Arscott |

The
Northwest Angle, the most northern point in the lower 48 states, is one
of Minnesota's gems. Cut out of the hard rock of the Canadian Shield,
and adorned with pine, spruce, balsam, poplar, and birch, the region is
dominated by the glacial Lake Agassiz remnant, Lake of the Woods. The
northern portion of Lake of the Woods has the majority of 14,542 islands,
making it a confounding maze of channels, islands, and bays. As a consequence
of this incredible complexity, fisheries in the lake are plentiful. Certainly
a visit in the winter or summer will leave you reeling for more. Enjoy
this short photo tour of a fun ice fishing excursion. Several outfitters,
guides, and resorts are capable of serving your needs. Check out their
