Race the Red 2003 - Friday & Saturday, 6-7 June

The 12th annual Race the Red canoe race, organized by River Keepers, will be held Saturday, June 7 starting at either 11 am (competative race) or 1 pm (fun race) from the bike/pedestrian bridge in Fargo's Lindenwood Park.

Entry fee is $15 for solo & $25 for a team if you are pre-registered by 5:00 pm on Tuesday June 3rd. There is a $15 late fee for registrations after June 3rd.

Course
Competitive - 10 mile race will begin at Lindenwood Park’s bike/pedestrian bridge, go upstream towards the South Dam and head back downstream ending at Dike East in Fargo.
Fun Race - 2 mile race begin at Lindenwood’s bike/pedestrian bridge, and end at Dike East in Fargo.

Date & Time
• Saturday, June 7. Competitive @ 11 a.m.; Fun @ 1 p.m. Awards at 2 p.m @ Dike East in Fargo.

Entrance Fees
• $15 solo, $25 team,
• $15 additional late fee if registered after Tuesday, June 3
• $15 to rent canoe or kayak

Pre-race Pasta Feed
• Friday, June 6 @ 6 p.m.
• Red Bear historic restaurant (700 1st Avenue N., Moorhead, MN)
• $10/plate
• Bring friends and family
• “Red River Canoe and Boating Route” program

After the race an awards ceremony will be held at the Midtown Dam at 2 pm with door prizes, Birch bark canoe trophy with hand lettering for each category (competitive/fun) winner, and t-shirts for all registered boaters.

Rules to Remember
• Fun is the primary intention of this event!
• Personal floatation devices must be warn at all times.
• All canoes/kayaks must be manually propelled.
• Participants must have a sense of respect for the Red River, regard for safety, common sense, consideration for others and good humor.
• No tipping, bumping or splashing other.
• Alcohol will not be permitted.
• The committee reserves the right to reject any entry they determine offensive.
• All protests will be heard by the committee and the decision of the committee shall be final.
